Behind the face that carries a smile Is a dark road that goes on mile after mile. My mind envelope with a blanket of darkness It taints my soul with unbearable numbness Saying i'm fine when I'm anything but This ache in my heart rips at my gut Hiding the hurt , hiding the pain Hiding the tears that fall like rain My skin is on fire, i'm burning from within That calm face is an ongoing sin Can't you hear my silent screams? They are loud , they echo in my dreams. Would there be someone to see i wear a mask? And care enough to remove it, is that too much to ask? © Adiatu Mariam Oyenike. ✍️ Tessypen.

Police Brutality "Police is your friend," they say. Nothing but total fallacy they lay. Mere assertion of wolves, Wolves in sheep's clothing, Clothing with no ending, Ending of brutality plus, Lethality without mercy. To protect our lives and properties; The motto on which you throw parties. We thought you're our tranquillity, Yet, everything turns to be fatality. Police isn't my friend; Hundreds of lives they bend. They're only kidnappers Of right and freedom, Taking money for wisdom, Leaving many in boredom. How can I be a friend to a backhander, One who hunts after dreadlocks for cash, One who sells his freedom for a token, Whose right goes for a bottle of gin? "Give me something to hold,  Or else I make you feel cold" That they always say, Pouncing on their prey. Police is my foe; My humble adversary! Police is not my friend; They're creatures so wanton! Say no to police brutality! _TheHolyPoet✅

WHEN THE VISITOR ARRIVED

Image
WHEN THE VISITOR ARRIVED First, it seemed like a fantasy. Later, it became a reality. Students had to leave school,  With those in the university, To limit the rate of fatality. Our places of worship are silent, Silent and no one to tell to be quiet. You could only hear the echoing sounds of the empty chairs; Far away, you could hear the hum of the hummingbirds. Deserted! our crowded places became empty. Our banks, markets, recreation centers, cinemas, stadiums... Became arena for monkey. How can one quickly explain? How can one explain the death of loved one? The experience of our medical personnel is a bigger one. The cemetery suddenly became a larger one. Between human race and death lies the virus. We hope nothing in the rate of death but a minus. Our economy is in shambles. An invisible enemy we couldn't scramble.  To the hoodlums; The miscreants; The scammers; The fraudsters; The hackers, it's a jungle. To the vulnerable,  It's more of a struggle. Africa is suffering.

RECOVERY I used to be one so ambitious;  I took my studies very serious.  I dealt with things meticulously;  Wasn't delayed by mistake unnecessarily.  I never gave up to any defeat;  I believed in a game of no retreat.  To try to the last even with a breathe left,  As I was sure my result would be one of the best.  Things turned around one day;  All I loved doing got hooked in a maze.  With a broken heart, I felt disappointed.  For several dreams I had, but yet to be met.  I only wake up, trapped in a pile of old dreams,  Each day my wings get more weakened, Coldness and grittiness, my frozen heart felt, In fantasy and hopes do I always crept. Auspiciously, I got revived,  When my mama called my name thrice,  In hastiness, she sought my attention,  Then, I remembered there were lots undone.   It dawned on me, the new sun has risen, Shinning so brightly, sucking away the crisis, The second chance is here again!  As I rose firm to bring a change.  Bestowed upon me were rights to r

HAIKU POEM

Image
HAIKU POEM  HAIKU POEM is a type of short form poetry originally from Japan. Traditional Japanese haiku consist of three phrases that contain a    " cutting word" Japanese in a 5, 7, 5 pattern, and a seasonal reference.  However, modern haiku vary widely on how closely they follow these traditional elements. Haiku originated as an opening part of a larger Japanese poem, known as a  renga . These haiku that were written as an opening stanza were known as  hokku  and eventually writers began to write them as their own stand-alone poems. Haiku was given its current name by the Japanese writer  Masaoka Shiki  at the end of the 19th century. Modern Japanese haiku are also said to increasingly vary from the tradition of 17  on  or taking nature as their subject. In Japanese, haiku are traditionally printed as a single line while haiku in English often appear as three lines. There are several other forms of  Japanese poetry  related to haiku, such as  senryĆ«  and  tanka.   Traditiona

HOW MUCH

Image
How much do you have? That's the world we living in today. Bribes and success have wed, Husband and wife they walk the streets. How much are you willing to pay for that dream Job? University degree no longer a key But who you know speaks volume. Women dive into their bosses beds for promotion. Students undress for their lecturers, Just to get that A or B grade. Men kill to earn a place in society. Everything has a price they say. Where are we going? Sure I am, God falls on his knees  Burst into tears at the sight of our actions. We have dragged his name in the mud. The poor continue to wallow in poverty. While a privileged few in suits prosper. Let's be concerned about the fate of the future. Before we all drown in corruption. @ChipoCM
